Candle Refills

What?!?! Candle refills? You bet!  Here is a step by step on how it works!  Feel free to contact us if you have any questions!

Step 1: Choose a vessel

You are welcome to bring in any vessel to make a candle with! The vessel needs to have a flat surface on the bottom to adhere the wick to and is made of a material that can withstand the flame/heat.

Vessels we have received before: our candles, candles from other candle companies, mugs, glass salsa jars, mason jars, tea tins, and even a sea shell from the ocean!

We do ask that you bring in clean vessels to refill. Here are a couple easy ways to clean a vessel that has old wax in it:

  1. Place the vessel in the freezer overnight (causing the wax to shrink) and pop it out with a butter knife. Wipe out inside of vessel with warm cloth to get any last bits.
  2. Create a double boiler: place the vessel in a shallow pan or pot. Fill pan/pot with 2-3 inches of water and bring to boil. Wax will melt in vessel. Dispose of melted wax safely (using your container you collect grease/oils in works great). Rinse vessel with hot water from pan/pot, dispose safely and wipe with cloth.

Step 2: Choose your scent, wick, and petals

Bring your vessel into the store any day we are open (everyday 11-6pm). If you bring your vessel in by Friday at close, your candle will be ready the following Monday.

You then choose from any of our current candle scent blends. You can also make your own by choosing from a list of essential oils.

Then you choose your wick. We offer a cotton or a wood wick. The cotton wick is an easy light-it-and-leave-it kind of wick. It is easy to use/maintain. Our wood wicks come of FSC certified wood and have a beautiful crackle and cozy vibe. They however, can be tricky to use and maintain.

We also love putting dried petals/leaves on top of the candle - so you can choose to have that or no petals/leaves.

Step 3: Pick up

We will send you a text or call you to let you know when your candle is ready. You can pick it up any time after that and pay when you pick up.

Step 4: Enjoy!

We love our candles and are happy to help you along the way. If you need help at all on how to maintain or care for your candles - please let us know!

Candle care:

To prevent fire: burn candle within sight. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire.

Keep wick trimmed to 1/4" inch at all times. Burn for the number of hours it takes for the entire surface of wax to become liquid and keep wick centered. To avoid glass cracking, do not burn the last 1/4" of wax in jar. Container will be hot when candle is lit. Do not leave unattended when lit.

Wood Wick Tips:

Wood wicks are a lovely, slow burn and have a beautiful crackle. But - they can be finicky and hard to light and keep lit.

The best way to light is to tilt it to make sure the entire wick lights. You may have to do this a few times. It may stay lit for several minutes and then go out. Tilt and light again.

If you have some tunnelling around the wick because it is not lighting properly, you can take a tissue to remove the extra liquid wax around the wick.

Once it is lit, make sure to burn it until the entire surface of wax is liquid. Then, before you light the wick again, you will need to flick off/trim the extra bit of the wick, and then tilt and light again.

If none of that works, bring it by the store and we can see how we can help!
