Shore Pine (Pinus contorta): Traditional use of the Shore Pine boughs included relief from body aches and pains and also in respiratory support. To beathe better, calm, lift and refresh fatigued spirits! A bright and refreshing aroma with citrus-like qualities of these similar, versatile trees. Adaptable, resilient and new beginnings exemplify the Shore Pine. This adaptable tree thrives in a wide range of ecosystems and soil types. The oil’s regenerative qualities reflect the character of the tree – once conditions are appropriate, these Pines are among the first to grow following forest fires and other forest disturbances. Pine is a valuable resource for Coastal Indigenous peoples as an essential building material, as well as a springtime delicacy and topical ailment for body soreness and aches.
Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii): Feeling anxious? Having trouble concentrating? Or just feeling stressed out? Traditional uses of Douglas Fir boughs are numerous for Coastal Indigenous peoples – notably, the fresh, fragrant boughs often cover the floors of ceremonial spaces and sweat lodges. Clear rooms and foggy brains with the renewing power of Douglas Fir essential oil. A few drops of this oil’s distinct piney essence refreshes rooms of stale air, and can be applied diluted to the skin for a clean, woodsy fragrance.
